Invest’s Employability Conference a roaring success

Over 100 local organisations met on Friday afternoon to discuss the latest news surrounding employment in Renfrewshire as part of the Invest in Renfrewshire employability conference.

Representatives from a variety of local projects shared information and updates on their recent projects, and their goals for the future. Delegates also had the chance to discuss new policies, and share ideas for improving existing services.

The event was especially well attended, with representation ranging from Renfrewshire Council, Skills Development Scotland, Renfrewshire’s Youth Employability Service and The Lennox Partnership; to NHS, Jobcentre Plus, West College Scotland, and University of the West of Scotland.

Local employability partner projects were also in attendance, such as First4Skills, WorkingRite, Tigers and Spark of Genius, along with representatives from several local schools. The event finished with a presentation from Matthew Moir of Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The event was hosted by Renfrewshire Council’s Economic Development Manager Ruth Cooper, who said:

“We at Invest in Renfrewshire wanted to update everyone on latest developments, and get a chance to hear the views of our partners, as it is really important we tackle employment issues in partnership. There was a really good turn out for this event, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for coming.  We’re already looking forward to the next one!”

The next Invest in Renfrewshire Employability Conference will be in Summer 2014.
