James Maclellan, 21, of Blend Coffee lounge, Paisley was the first of Invest’s clients on the new revised IIR Recruitment Incentive, and has now successfully completed one whole year with the Company Blend Coffee in Paisley.
Blend opened its doors in July 2015 in the town centre, and is positioned on the corner of Causyside Street and Forbes Place. Alan Baird the owner has grown the business in offering a variety of gluten free and vegan products, entertainment and an excellent atmosphere, and has offered something new to Paisley residents in the town centre. The business has grown since its opening and he increased trading hours, and increased employee numbers.
Owner Alan used the Recruitment Incentive on wages for his new promising employee James and also to pay towards training needs. This allowed him to attend Barista festivals and an opportunity to Network. James has taken everything on board, and in a small space of time, he was offered a shift supervisors appointment, and now is a shift Manager, and does all the Barista training. His manager Alan speaks very highly of James’ work.
James has been part of our team since we opened last summer and has shown great leadership qualities, as well as a desire to learn and take on more responsibilities. This saw him promoted to Shift Manager within just a couple of months, which he took in his stride as he led team members that we both younger and older than himself.
James was nominated for an “Aiming Higher” award in the “Most Promising new employee” category at our Invest in Renfrewshire awards earlier in the year.
He has excelled in learning the skills of a barista and makes incredible designs with his latte art – much to our customer’s delight. James is one of the most driven young people I have known. He has an insatiable thirst for learning and developing his skills to be the best that he possibly can be at any given task or role.
