In 2015/16, Renfrewshire Council spent £181m on a wide range of goods and services, presenting considerable commercial opportunities to local businesses.
The procedure for buying goods and services is highly regulated and depends on the nature of the goods/services and the value of the contract. Generally, high value contracts will have to be put out to a formal tender process, whereas the procedure for low value purchases will be less onerous on both the buyer (the Council) and the seller (the supplier).
Renfrewshire Council is keen to encourage local businesses to bid for contracts and the Council’s website provides details of the various procedures and opportunities.
