Invest in Renfrewshire’s Traineeship Programme aims to raise levels of confidence, experience and qualifications of young people in Renfrewshire, by providing learning opportunities and work experience to unemployed 16-29 year olds.
The ‘traineeship’ is targeted at the young unemployed people of Renfrewshire and is aimed at maximising their potential. Traineeships provide excellent opportunities for young people to be involved with constructive paid work experience within various council departments while gaining vocational qualifications.
The duration of the traineeships will vary based on departmental requirements; however the general traineeship model will have the trainee gaining paid work experience for a fixed term basis of 3 months. The traineeship will generally consist of 21 hours of work experience and up to 9 hours per week on training and development.
Duties may include environmental work, catering, administrative and/or clerical duties, however this will be dependent on which positions are available. The trainee will participate in educational training such as working towards an SVQ Level 2, or equivalent learning or qualifications.
