Web design company Xtensive-ly invests in graduates

Web design guru Colin Thomas was looking for an extra pair of hands to help drive his business forward.

His company, Xtensive, based in Paisley specialises in web design, search engine optimisation, social media, and web marketing, and he needed new blood to help the firm move forward.

Colin contacted Invest in Renfrewshire, who subsidised a graduate intern to work at Xtensive, and even helped source a candidate, Liam Smith, for the job.

Colin says “The whole recruitment process was really straightforward, and the funding helped us offer the position to a graduate. Invest in Renfrewshire helped us to take on more work, which hopefully means an increase in successes and of course, a career for Liam. ”

After the 11-month internship was finished, Liam was offered a permanent position with Xtensive. Colin firmly believes Liam has brought a lot to the company – not only his web design skills but also up-to-date knowledge of technology and a new way of thinking.

It’s clear to see the two make an excellent combo, bouncing comments off each other as they’re being interviewed. Colin backs this up: “The best part has been finding the right person for the job – it would’ve been a disaster if we’d recruited the wrong one!

Invest in Renfrewshire is a great scheme – I’ve spoken to clients who wish they had the same opportunity in their area. I’d happily work with Invest again.
