Renfrewshire Employability Awards 2018 are open for nominations!

We are delighted to launch the fifth round of the ‘Celebrating Success’ Awards in Renfrewshire, recognising the hard work and effort our local people display as they prepare for the world of work.

Securing employment is a key aim for most people and across Renfrewshire a wide range of partner organisations work together to support people to prepare for, to secure and to progress in the workplace.

Renfrewshire is full of amazing people with immense potential and thousands of unemployed people are supported into work here every year.

Have you trained, supported or employed someone in the past 2 years who deserves special recognition? Maybe you have taken on a new employee who was previously unemployed and is making a significant contribution to your workplace? Do you know a young person who is too young to work but is building a CV through volunteering which will help them move into employment in a few years time?

It’s time to nominate!

The deadline for nominations is Friday 14th September 2018 has been extended to Monday 24th September!

The Celebrating Success Awards ceremony will be held in Paisley Town Hall on the evening of Monday 19th November 2018.

This is your chance to nominate a trainee, employee or entrepreneur who has built a better future by investing their time, effort, skills and resources in Renfrewshire. All nominees must live in Renfrewshire.

Section 1: Preparing for Work

This section of the awards recognises those who are preparing for work and who are building up their own skills and experiences needed for future employment.

Have you been impressed by someone’s commitment, attitude or tenacity when preparing for work?

Top Intern Award

For the intern making the biggest impact and who commitment, energy and ideas have helped move their organisation forward. Nominees must have been hired through Invest in Renfrewshire Graduate Internship Programme.

Best Trainee Award

For the trainee who deserves special recognition for their efforts, attitude and quality of work.
Nominees must have been supported through Skills Development Scotland’s Employability Fund, Invest in Renfrewshire’s Traineeship Programme or the Scottish Governments Community Jobs Scotland Programme.

CV Builder Award (Youth)

For the school pupil whose extra-curricular activity will prepare them for the world of work. This award recognises that the preparation for employment starts at school and rewards young peoples commitment to building skills and experiences for their future career.

Section 2: Achieving in Work

This award category recognises those who have moved from unemployment into work and who are making a real difference either for an employer or for themselves.

Have you been inspired by someone who has moved from unemployment to self employment over the past 2 years and has changed their life as a result?

Maybe you’ve employed someone who was previously unemployed and now couldn’t do without them?

Most Promising New Employee Award

The award recognises an individual with the talent and attitude to go on to bigger and better things. Nominees should be Renfrewshire residents and previously have been unemployed and started in their job within Renfrewshire in the past two years.

Most Promising New Entrepreneur Award

This award recognises the enterprise and commitment of those who have moved from being unemployed to self employed or who have set up their own business. Renfrewshire needs more entrepreneurs and we applaud those who have taken this brave and bold step.

Section 3: Progression in Work

This section recognises the achievements of those who have previously participated in employability programmes, have secured employment and are now working to secure a better post and to progress in the workplace.

For the employee with stand-out commitment to training and development. We are looking for someone who has learned new skills, taken on more challenging tasks and progressed within the workplace.

Section 4: Special Achievement Award

Our final section recognises personal successes in employability. Many people have additional barriers to overcome in their move towards employment and this category recognises those who have inspired us by tackling personal issues in order to transform their lives through participating in work, training or education.

Have you worked with, or supported, someone who has overcome a particular barrier and who is worthy of recognition? Maybe you know of a client who has inspired you by their drive to succeed regardless of their own issues.

This award recognises the success of those who get into employment, training or education and overcome substantial barriers to transform their lives.
