Remarkable Results for Ryan!

Ryan (far right) is determined to gain an apprenticeship as an electrician and has made significant progress to achieve his career goal. This has been achieved as a result of the support provided by Invest In Renfrewshire and receiving 1-1 with his employability advisor Fraser McKinlay.

Ryan has to date, worked hard to gain his Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card and pass his Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT) test. To support his learning into practice to develop the skills and enhance his CV, Ryan agreed that work experience opportunity would allow him to test his learning and introduce him to a hands on working environment.

Ryan completed a 4 week work placement offered as a community benefit by Heron Bros Ltd who are currently delivering on Renfrewshire Council’s contract for a New Shared Campus – Bargarran Primary School and St John Bosco Primary School.  Following this Ryan was placed with T Clark who deliver a full range of mechanical, electrical and ICT services.

According to Ryan, “It was a fantastic opportunity for me to build up knowledge and skills that are required when working in the electrical industry. It was also good to work in a live construction site and get a real feel for the place. The people at Heron Bros and T Clarke were very supportive and gave me advice and pointers to further my career”

Ryan will continue to be supported by Invest In Renfrewshire until the end goal of gaining an apprenticeship can be achieved.
