Renfrewshire Women’s Aid was established in 1985 with the sole purpose of providing advice, support, information and safe accommodation for Women, Children & Young People affected by Domestic Abuse in Renfrewshire. Renfrewshire Women’s Aid offers crisis intervention, emotional and practical support, advocacy and temporary refuge and scatter accommodation.

We are a member of Scottish Women’s Aid network, of 36 local Women’s Aid Groups across Scotland. Scottish Women’s Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working towards the prevention of domestic abuse and plays a vital role in campaigning and lobbying for effective responses to domestic abuse.

Free advice service open to women.

Our service is carefully tailored to the women and children who need it. We have been able to achieve this by listening to and learning from all those who seek help from Renfrewshire Women’s Aid.

Women and Children First can provide a range of support services to women and children who have experienced rape, sexual assault, physical abuse, harassment and/or child sexual abuse, whether in the home or in the wider community.
They can offer a therapeutic environment where children/young people can explore their experiences.
Whether their experiences are related to sexual abuse or physical abuse, the world of a child can be full of confused feelings and uncertainties. Through discussion, painting and play, we can help a child/young person to make sense of their world and the relationships within it.

Renfrewshire Council has preferential rights of nomination to vacancies within the services.
Once a referral has been received, the management team and referring officers will discuss the support needs of the individual.

Referrals will be accepted from a young person, parent/carer or other relevant person. Accessing the child/young person counselling service is simple. Referrals are taken over the telephone and only a small amount of information is required in order to begin the referral process.
